Aljada Substation Facade

The project is designed to consider the existing conditions and programs of the site, while also incorporating new ideas to serve both the community outside and the Sewa workers inside. The site is bordered by three main sides: the main road, the school area, and the residential side. Initially, the project was wrapped by a wall that encompasses the entire project. The wall was then adjusted based on the frequency and amplitude of a series of waves on one hand and triangular shingles on the other hand. This wall serves multiple functions, consisting of three layers. The wall provides seating, planter pots for vegetation, and shading through canopies. The waves present on the wall also extend onto the ground, introducing various plant species along the different facades. By utilizing waves, a serpentine wall was achieved which provides structural integrity. The height of the waves gradually increases from the ground up to the canopies, while the shingles on the wall are adjusted based on the frequency of the waves. Different frequencies allow for variations in the materials used. Analogous to a stretched rubber band that changes in hue, our wall incorporates shingles ranging from copper to hammered copper and pre-oxidized copper. Overall, our design considers the surrounding conditions, introduces new programs, and incorporates elements of vegetation and dynamic wave-like structures into the wall, offering both functional and aesthetic benefits.
